They will always leave with a Waggin' Tail!

Mel’s Waggin’ Tail Inn opened its door in July 2010, to provide quality care, with a personal touch, for your dog.

The owner, Melissa Cormier, had a passion for dogs at a young age. She bugged her parents to get a family dog at the age of 6. When the family dog crossed the rainbow bridge 11 years later, Mel adopted her first dog from the SPCA at the age of 17.

She began volunteering at the Greater Moncton SPCA at the age of 18 and still foster dogs from various rescue organisation.

Melissa has 7 dogs of her own.

  • Meko was her first four legged companion. A Samoyed\Chow Mix rescued from the SPCA in 2003. Being a rescue, he came with temperamental issues. It’s because of him that she learnt about dog behaviors and worked alongside reputable trainers.
  • Zoey, a Siberian Husky, was adopted from a family who had to move. That’s when she fell in love with the Husky breed.
  • Sway was the 3rd member to join the pack, a blond, blue eyed Siberian Husky.
  • Lightning, a Malamute Mix, was adopted from the Moncton SPCA in April 2008.
  • Tahoe is Sway’s offspring! He was born in October 2008.
  • Sandy found a forever home in the pack after fostering her and her 10 babies from the Moncton SPCA in November 2010. You will see her greeting clients in the lobby or playing outside with all the guests!
  • Falkko, a handsome Doberman Pinscher, was the last to join the pack in 2013. He will keep the guests entertained all day and loves to get cuddles from their Pawrents in the lobby.

Well, just came back from two weeks to Mexico and I think Mel gave me the wrong dog. My over exuberant 11 month old chocolate lab is now a calm and submissive wonderful companion. I don’t know if she gave him special attention or it s living within a pack, but he is more obedient, responds better on leash, doesn’t want to chew on my hands and doesn’t jump on people anymore.

Overall, I am more than satisfied with this kennel, and would recommend it to anyone that cares for their dog. It’s not only a daycare but a rehab. Living in a pack has given me the dog I wanted. Thanks Again Mel!
